Winter Into Spring

The Machine Quilter Retreat terminal weekend was hence much fun! We had a bully grouping of girls from all over the country. The conditions was hence kind! It did snowfall but alone afterwards everyone had arrived condom together with audio on Friday. Then it rained together with past times Lord's Day it was positively balmy. So all the driving at that topographic point together with dorsum i time again was simply fine.

 We laughed a lot and enjoyed auditioning thread together with brainstorming quilting patterns on diverse tops.

 Everyone brought quilts to share. It was real inspiring!

Marilyn wrote a poem, which captured the Retreat hence much amend than prose.

Dancing the line

Outside, a muntjac deer, her coat

shimmering similar moisture clay, picks her sunlit agency

through snowfall fading from the soft border of hard.

Inside, its fourth dimension to present together with state our pieces,

to ask  - which pattern, which thread?

We spool silk, cotton, trilobal fibre

over fabric, reckon curls of matt, glossy,  

same together with shifting colour lines:

question,    disagree,      play.

Next nosotros air doodle, letting the line

whisper to our mind’s eye, then, pen on paper,

nosotros repeat: ripple stipple, border feathers, loops,

writing their twists, turns, together with pauses

into our musculus retentivity earlier nosotros needle-draw,

dorsum together with forth across stretched sandwiches

-top, fleece, backing. We are dancing the business

to the thaw’s soundscape, stitching across

bears paw, log cabin, blocks together with strips

of cloth, sewing buds of scallops, mussel shells,

hearts,  side stepping to shadow one,

hence around other - creating quilting blossom.

the leaves, trees, paths, complimentary from snow:

inwards its gaze nosotros plough towards home.
